This is my wonderful partner. And her dog! I’ve been exploring portrait photography lately, and she has very graciously been my subject for a few practice sessions. Max, of course, wanted to be involved too!

It’s been fun to stretch myself in a different genre of photography. While I’m pretty well-versed in event and candid photography, I’m finding that a staged and structured environment “poses” (hehe) whole new challenges. I’m learning a lot about my own craft and how to better utilize it. In addition to learning about off-camera flash – which has been so fun! – I’m also learning how to really tell a person’s story using lighting, clothing, posing, and decoration.
