Today, I want to celebrate this guy! This is the boss, the head honcho, the big man, el jefe – the director who leads the team I’m so grateful to be a part of. This is his last day before he goes on sabbatical (extended time off for pastors). We won’t see him in the office for seven weeks, so it’ll be much quieter around our desks, but this is something he’s been looking forward to for a long time. I wish you the most rejuvenating time away, Q!

I captured this photo at a staff party honoring him before he disappears for a while. We went to a bowling alley, and it was so fun to hang out with his family and other staff, to remove ourselves from the busyness and just enjoy each other’s company. At times like these, I’m reminded of a quote from the Office: “I wish there was a way to know you’re in the good old days, before you’ve actually left them.”
