Photo of The Week – October, 8, 2024

I went on a brief walk yesterday on a grassy path. A few trees shaded the way, and I captured one of the particularly interesting ones as the sun poked through.
Some photographers swear that color in an image only distracts from the focus, and while I heartily disagree with the notion, I wanted to give it a shot to see how it changed the way I viewed the photo. And boy, I gotta say, monochrome really does influence my perception of the photograph! I realized many images I had taken that day were actually pretty boring, and I was relying on the colorful foliage to make up the difference. While I still believe good color choice is essential aspect to a striking image, shooting in black-and-white will certainly emphasize a photo’s shortcomings!
